International Female Ride Day 2019

It’s almost that time again! International Female Ride Day happens on the first Saturday of May each year and even though I’m living down South IM COMING HOME to put this on cus’ I can’t forget about one of my favourite events of the year. This will be the fifth year I’ve put together this ride in BC and each year our numbers double - and this year we’re having a pancake breakfast! We’re also having vendors come out - all local women ran brands. Of course there’s going to be tons of rad raffle prizes and then we will do a ride with a bit longer of a route this year!

You can click “attending” on our Facebook event page HERE to see more information as the date gets closer!

HIGHNOON SCRAMBLE 10

On October 29th, the TENTH High Noon Scramble went down at the end of # 6 road: The Richmond Dunes. The race is a multiple-lap loop around some sketchy obstacles, jumps, hill climbs, and burms. The categories include mono shock and vintage. Us spectators don't really care too much about all that though, we just love watching these dudes dress up and eat shit in the sand. Overall, some highlights included:

  • Mike Babs Goul head costume
  • Nicks Maico 250
  • The EZ TV Broadcast crew
  • The trike dude that smashed into Elliots new truck
  • Keddie lighting off a firework when he won runner-up
  • The snowmobile over-heating and then proceeding to hit the jump over and over again
  • The beer pong crew
  • Myk Roc
  • The dude who didn't bring a costume and was forced into riding in his underwear
  • Bri's Filth Mode cookies
  • Some random girl who gave me a cheddar smokey
  • The winners belt
  • Curtis wresting the winner (WWE style)

All in all, the event was awesome as it is every year. The new belt that has been made for future years will be up for grabs next Halloween season... Who will take it next time!!?? For now, here's some 35mm film photos I shot on my Olympus Stylus:

International Female Ride Day: Vancouver

International Female Ride Day is coming up !! This will be the 4th year that Road Apples organizes a ride in Vancouver/BC. Last year we did Victoria @ Wheelies Motorcycles and it was a fucking blast. This year will be back in Vancouver but with a twist. We're going to meet at International Motorsports on 2nd Ave at 10:30am on May 6th, drink some coffee, do a raffle with prizes from Converse, Brixton, Stance & The Dream Roll and then head out towards the O.W.L Rehabilitation Centre in Delta. They're having an open house on the same day we're doing the ride (May 6th) so were going to go check out some owls and raptors and even watch one of these birds being released back into the wild.

Ladies only! Anyone is welcome to the meet up at International Motorsports but ladies only on the ride! See you babes soon! More information on the poster below or the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/events/1791288931191865/

International Female Ride Day 2016

We're changing this up this year for International Female Ride Day & heading over to Victoria, BC. Stoked to team up with Wheelies Motorcycles where we will be meeting on May 7th at noon. We will hangout there for an hour while ladies can drink coffee, eat breakfast, chat and participate in a free raffle we are putting on with prizes donated to us by The Dream Roll, Born A Bad Seed, Loser Machine and Wheelies. After the hour, we will head out on a a group ride led by Tori Drew, Kate Snyder and myself. The route will be scenic, easy and mellow so all riders, bikes and skill levels are welcome to come with. For any questions, go to my 'contact' page and shoot me an email!

Strange Vacation Moto Rugby

The ladies at Strange Vacation let me review their pullover sweater they call the 'Moto Rugby'. It's cold as fuck up here in Vancouver right now, so it was pretty good timing. This long sleeve is a thick cotton with extra elbow padding that feels really good under a jacket. I'm weirdly lanky so the extra long sleeves rule. I'm wearing an X-Small in the pictures below by Blaine Connolly. It's listed on their website here: www.strangevacation.com

Highnoon Scramble recap by Wendy Dyk

"The High Noon Scramble: a 9 lap racecourse of sand-pit hell (hell as in- this is actually fucking awesome). A race which includes a gnarly hill climb, tight thorny bush trails, and a deep sandy hip jump (which claimed a victim or two) put on once a year by the Filth Mode crew down at the big ol' Richmond sand pits at the end of #8 Road. People show up in full-on costume and put on their best faces right before hitting the course with full attempt in finishing, until about the 6th lap when either their bike won't start or they realize how fucking tired they actually are."

Hawks Nest

The Hawks Nest in one of many East Vancouver workshop spaces. The boys in this spot are pretty funny to be around, and they've got a lot of cooks in the kitchen but they always seem to make shit run! Here's their space:
